Movement 2011
Wednesday, June 1st, 2011
Movement, or as it was formerly and probably still better known as the Detroit Electronic Music Festival is held every year over the three day Memorial Day weekend. The line up is always something to look forward to, and with 5 stages going non-stop for 12 hours each day everyone is able to find something they like. Saturday for us was spent at the Beatport stage which was all but taken over by the M_NUS label who put together seamless sets from the likes of Hearttrhob, Gaiser, Marc Houle, and finally closing the night the man Richie Hawtin. Sunday was at its best with three energetic sets from Richardo Villalobos, the godfather Sven Väth, closing with Carl Craig one of the pioneers of Detroit Techno. As always by the end of it all you want to do is hang out and do nothing for probably a week after, but at the same time the countdown begins for one of the greatest festivals to kick off the summer next year.

Knot Strength
Tuesday, June 29th, 2010These past two weeks I’ve finally been able to get Up North to go fly fishing. Pictures are scarce at the moment because the only camera we had was one of those Kodak instant cam’s where you have to wind the film. I hadn’t used one of those in so long, but I think they would be fun for an art project or something, not really sure yet. Anyways the highlights have been the 14″ brown trout, that is the biggest fish that I have caught in MI, and when I thought I ran out of tipped and didn’t have any leaders left. I decided to look once more and like magic I had a bran new spool!
I was so happy at that moment, resulting in this post.
This Isn’t Twister
Saturday, May 22nd, 2010The other day I had the chance to go to one of those high ropes courses. These are the kinds of things the military uses in their training exercises for strength and team building things. It was a lot of fun. Most of the time you feel like your some trapeze artist, or tight rope walker, which gave me a sense of how crazy those people actually are. Knowing that I was harnessed in and attached to the safe-lines it was very hard to let go and just balance on some of the obstacles.

Ocean
In early 2009, Ocean began as a lifestyle commitment. By combining our love for the board sport lifestyle and the environment, Ocean will design products that are as innovative and unique as you are, while working seamlessly with the environment. We hope you like our products as much as we do. Welcome to the Ocean Lifestyle.
Why Wax
Due to its relatively small size, ski and snowboard wax may not seem to have a big impact on the environment. But a traditional puck of wax is much more toxic than generally known. The traditional fluorinated ski waxes consist of perflourcarbons or PFC. To produce PFC, perfluorooctanoic acid, PFOA, a nearly eternal compound is required. As the PFC’s break down they return to PFOA’s and flow into rivers and streams. PFOA’s have been traced to the blood of dolphins, arctic polar bears and humans. PFOA is a known carcinogen and has been linked to infertility, cancer and liver damage. Also, PFC is a greenhouse gas with a life expectancy of 50,000 years and has a much greater warming effect than carbon dioxide. To protect from this, we hand pour our very own Natural Soy Based ski wax that is naturally biodegradable and not harmful to the environment.

Future
Ocean is, and always will be a small company. As of now, wax is the main focus of our operation. But we plan on expanding our product line to include new innovative original designs that are unique to the Ocean Lifestyle.
